We offer educational workshops on a range of subjects.

We offer consultation in Holistic Management® decision-making and planning, with an emphasis on Planned Grazing.

Carbon Farming Practices:

We practice all aspects of Holistic Management, including Holistic Planned Grazing. We are nearing completion of a Keyline Irrigated Landscape, which is systematically designed to rapidly create and maintain soil fertility. We practice Keyline soil development by orchestrating grazing, haying and subsoiling of pastures. We also use biodynamic preparations, composting, Viktor Schauberger’s insights into soil fertility and living water, and paramagnetism. We apply Sea-Crop sea minerals to our land, as well as microbial innoculants. During this growing season we interplanted deep-rooted herbs into some pastures.

We also drilled winter rye directly into pasture, and have been impressed with the late season growth. We consider this a variant on the pasture cropping schemes emerging from Australia.

We have 100 tons of wood ash on the way that we will be incorporating into this years compost.

Here at Cimarron, we love to farm. It’s our pleasure to offer nutrient dense solar food, grown in a way that builds healthy bodies, ecological and spiritual wealth and new knowledge. We are proud to be Carbon Farmers and to add new topsoil and climate stability as primary farm products.

Products Available:

Cattle, Rotokawa Devon semen and embryos, 100% grass-fed and finished high quality beef.

Carbon Farming Practices:

Forage analysis and fertilization (with foliar sprays) to stimulate soil biology and root penetration.  Grazing to optimize grass production and creation of organic matter.

My mission is to revitalize the rural economy; we stand at a rare cross-roads where the consumer and farmer/ husbandman can reconnect.  100% grass-fed and finished beef is the tool to accomplish this rural revival; Devon cattle are a breed historically known as the “butcher’s breed” that excels on a grass only diet.  The grass diet is healthy for the bovine and the management system is healthy for the farmer, the land, and the consumer; sequestering carbon is another amazing result of this age old form of agriculture.

Trillium Hill Farm is more than a collection of trees from which to get sap and firewood or fields upon which to graze animals, but rather a community. Borrowing from Aldo Leopold, we might call our farm a “biotic farm,” where the soil, plants, animals, and people are all better because of one another.
