Antique Morimura Bros Nippon Hand Painted 6-Inch Bowl Pink Roses Gold Trim 1911-1921: Measurements: Weight: 6 ozLength: 6 inchesWidth: 4-3/4 inchesHeight: 2 inches About: This is a beautiful Nippon hand painted candy/nut/trinket bowl from Morimura Bros (the forerunner to Noritake). The rose swags are a lovely pink with pale green leaves. The edges are scalloped with encrusted gold trim. The gold paint has a wonderful patina. At the bottom is a sweet painted flower in gold. The condition is pristine, especially being over 100 years old. It looks like it was rarely used. Porcelain imported from Japan between 1891 to 1921 had to be labeled Nippon (Japanese word for Japan) by tariff laws. This M in Wreath trademark was used from 1911 to 1921; hence, it can be dated to that time period. In 1921, the law was changed, stating the originating country had to be labeled in English, so Japan or Made in Japan replaced Nippon from that time on. Condition:Preowned, excellent condition. The hand painting is in beautiful condition without scratches. The gold trim is also intact without scratches. The porcelain is bright white. There are no chips or cracks. There is some scuffing on the bottom rim. There is a slight scratch down near the bottom on one side. Please see photos as they are an integral part of the description.
