DESCRIPTION: A very fine antique Chinese Dehua Blanc de Chine porcelain figure of a seated luohan/lohan. Above his left upper thigh, there is a gourd bottle tied to a small tree branch or drift wood. Back impressed with a 4-character Qianlong mark withing a square, but most likely dated to late Qing or early Republic period. The glaze overall is creamy, more closely depicted in the 2 pics with white background, kind of pale yellow or light oil grease. A nearly identical one in the same posture, but with different objects, also with the same mark, was sold in 2008 for $600 by Bonhams/Butterfield. They dated it to 19th century. Screen cap of that piece is in the very last photo. SIZE: Approx. 5 1/8 inches tall CONDITION: Minor shallow chips & flea bites on robe edges. Possible flea bites on beard, eyebrows & hair.
