Over the years, many books have been written about the Blue Angels. Most offer cursory details about the team’s history, and tend to include the same familiar photographs. Recognizing both this fact and a desire to truly document their history, author Mathew J. Garretson created Blue Angels Decades. Part scrapbook, part reference guide, Blue Angels Decades details the Blue Angels year by year, in ten-year increments. Diving deep into the official Blue Angels’ archives, as well as sharing material from team members and their families, Blue Angels Decades tells the story of the world’s finest flight demonstration squadron in words in pictures, many never before seen in print. Each chapter of Blue Angels Decades is devoted to one year, and includes a synopsis, a detailed flight demonstration schedule, and plenty of photos, newspaper clippings and images of assorted memorabilia. All images are captioned in rich detail, and the end result provides readers with a great understanding of the season. In those seasons where a new aircraft was introduced, famed aviation artist Mads Bangsø has created a beautiful three-view profile for that aircraft. Volume One covers the years 1946 to 1955, and was released during the Blue Angels’ 75th Anniversary celebration in Pensacola. Offered here is the 154-page 'Regular', softbound edition. It is in A3 format (12" wide by 8.75" high), with a beautiful, embossed cover. Volume One has been universally praised by current and former members of the Team (see reviews). A portion of the proceeds from the sale of every book goes to the Blue Angels Association. Mat 'Irish' Garretson is a well-known pilot and aviation writer, and serves as the Print Historian of the Blue Angels Association. Each book is carefully covered in bubble wrap, and then placed in a sturdy, USPS-compliant cardboard shipper. The purchase price reflects USPS Book Rate shipping within the continental U.S. Overseas purchases will require additional shipping charges...please inquire. This book would make a welcome addition to any fan's library, and are offered on a first-come basis. Happy to answer any questions that you might have. Thanks for looking...and FLY NAVY!
