LOT 7Lockheed SR-71 61-7972 BLACKBIRD, Signed w Titanium Sample & Fact Sheet Included in this listing is the certificate of Provenance of the Lockheed SR-71A BLACKBIRD with TWO Titanium Samples included.The smaller piece contains a titanium sample from the massive ejector nozzle which in July of 1976 to set out to break the World Record that was then held by the Soviet Union. The three sorties were flown by SR 71 Crews of the 9th strategic Reconnaissance Wing at Beale Air Force base in California. This was flown by Captain Robert C Helt, pilot and Major Larry Elliot, RSO.The certificate of provenance Blackbird Sample includes the whole titanium sample, Part and was part of the massive exhaust nozzle from the World Speed Record Aircraft. This sample was obtained from Dan Freeman, Machinist from section Chief Metals Technology. It is signed & certified on the back sideThe last piece is an SR-71 Titanium Fact Sheet. These Blackbird's still hold many records (as of when this was printed). The Blackbirds were retired in 1990.
